Keeping your Dog Safe on Trails

The weather is warming up and the trails are waiting. If you enjoy hiking in the Columbia River Gorge so will your dog. Keep some of these things in mind in order to keep your dog safe while taking those hikes.

  • Hydration
  • First Aid Kit for Dogs
  • Waste collection baggies
  • Leash
Also you should be aware of Salmon poisoning, read more about this below.
White and Williams caution that salmon poisoning can occur if dogs get into water and eat a contaminated minnow or lick rocks with salmon residue. If that happens, gastro-intestinal symptoms will appear within seven to 10 days and a veterinarian should be consulted.
